Emphasis on Design Innovation: Himachal Minister Guides Handicrafts Corporation

Shimla, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Industries Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Harshwardhan Chauhan, led the 193rd meeting of the Board of Directors for the HP State Handicrafts and Handloom Corporation on Monday, highlighting the significance of design innovation to effectively compete with contemporary marketing strategies.

He commended the corporation's initiatives aimed at promoting handicrafts and handloom products, which serve the broader interests of the state's weavers and artisans.

In alignment with government directives, he announced an increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for employees from 38 percent to 42 percent.

Furthermore, the minimum wages for skilled and unskilled workers associated with the corporation were raised starting April 1, based on the government notification issued on September 23.

Additionally, Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh conducted a review meeting with officials from Jal Prabandhan Nigam Ltd.

During this meeting, the minister assessed the progress of multiple water projects, including Dwada, Shakrodi, and Dummi. Officials informed the minister that civil works and pump inspections for the Shakrodi project have been finalized.

It was reported that 90 percent of the work on Dummi Stage-III, covering the water tank, pump house, and staff quarters, is complete. The construction of the water tank for the Dwada project is ongoing, with work on the Peterhoff tank also nearing its conclusion.

After reviewing a presentation on the management of the city's drinking water supply by Suez Company, Vikramaditya Singh underscored the necessity of involving local councillors, residents, and MLAs in the planning and execution of these initiatives.

He instructed the company personnel to collaborate with all wards and councillors to tackle public issues and create comprehensive work plans.

Moreover, the minister requested that Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Ltd. provide monthly updates and progress reports on all drinking water initiatives in the city.
