Mumbai, March 28 (NationPress) In light of growing public anxiety due to the Iran–Israel conflict, Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, delivered a strong message on Saturday, cautioning against the dissemination of misinformation regarding fuel shortages or a possible lockdown. He firmly stated that no lockdown is being considered.

“There is categorically no intention to impose a lockdown,” he emphasized, noting that India is adequately equipped to confront the current global fuel challenges.

He informed the press, “Certain groups are deliberately inciting confusion and fear. Prime Minister Narendra Modi instructed states during a virtual conference with all Chief Ministers on Friday to take decisive measures against those propagating such falsehoods. Disseminating inaccurate information during these critical times undermines national interests, and we will respond firmly.”

To further shield the state from global energy upheavals, the Chief Minister revealed that the Maharashtra government is accelerating the development of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure.

“We have recently enacted a Government Resolution (GR) to ease the conditions for the installation of gas pipelines across all municipal corporations. Transitioning the urban energy demand from LPG to PNG will enable us to manage our energy reserves more effectively during international crises,” he stated.

While India has experienced the repercussions of ongoing geopolitical disputes, Fadnavis reassured that the nation remains stable due to proactive diplomacy and strategic foresight.

He mentioned that the Prime Minister led a critical meeting with all Chief Ministers on Friday to assess the effects of the Middle East conflict on India's economy and energy security.

Fadnavis praised the Prime Minister's leadership, asserting, “While many developed nations and neighboring countries are grappling with fuel shortages—resorting to four-day work weeks or mandatory remote work—India has successfully navigated this predicament. The Chief Ministers collectively commended PM Modi for his steady management of this global crisis.”

He elaborated, “The central government has absorbed the impact of increasing international fuel prices, ensuring that the rise in costs does not burden the average consumer. The supply of domestic LPG cylinders has been boosted by 75%, safeguarding households from disruption. India's energy security is reinforced by an import strategy involving 41 countries, which diminishes reliance on any single unstable region. Despite restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, India’s diplomatic efforts have secured a continuous supply of LPG.”
