Sahibganj (Jharkhand), March 14 (NationPress) Farmers in Jharkhand who have benefited from the central government’s prominent 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)' initiative expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enabling them to access financial support and engage in agriculture without relying on loans.
The PM-KISAN initiative is designed to offer financial aid to all farmer families with cultivable land throughout the nation, subject to specific exclusion criteria. Under this program, a total of Rs. 6000 is disbursed annually in three equal payments of Rs. 2000 directly into the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of the farmers.
Amit Singh, a farmer from Sahibganj, shared with IANS, "The Modi administration has introduced many schemes for farmers, but the PM-KISAN initiative stands out as the most advantageous. There have been significant improvements compared to the past. Both the central and state governments are rolling out numerous programs for farmers. We appreciate that the Prime Minister considers the needs of the farming community as well."
He elaborated on the challenges faced by farmers, such as losses stemming from water scarcity and other factors, which exacerbate their financial difficulties. "Thanks to this initiative, we receive assistance in obtaining seeds, fertilizers, and manure for our agricultural activities," he noted.
Expressing his gratitude, Singh remarked, "I am thankful to PM Modi for focusing on the grassroots level, especially on farmers. I also urge the government to introduce additional schemes to further assist growers."
A farmer-centric digital framework has guaranteed that the advantages of the scheme reach all farmers nationwide without any intermediary involvement, ensuring complete transparency in the registration and verification process of beneficiaries.
Another farmer, Arun Thakur, who is also a recipient of the program, told IANS, "I receive Rs. 2,000, which I utilize for my farming endeavors. This support is extremely beneficial for us, particularly in purchasing fertilizers and seeds, and we encounter no hardships in this regard."
Highlighting the absence of the need for loans, he stated, "I no longer require loans for farming. The funds are directly deposited into my bank account, which I can access whenever necessary for my agricultural needs."
Thakur further expressed, "This is an excellent initiative that should continue to support farmers in this manner. We will face no issues. I extend my gratitude to the Prime Minister for this."
On a related note, Prime Minister Modi recently inaugurated the distribution of the 22nd installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Guwahati, Assam. Approximately Rs 19,000 crore was allocated to around 9.32 crore farmers across the country on PM Kisan Utsav Diwas.
