Patna, Feb 13 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, initiated in 2020, has significantly contributed to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among individuals, paving the way for self-sufficiency.

In the Sheikhpura district of Bihar, the transformation is palpable as numerous residents are embracing entrepreneurship as a pathway to self-sustenance and wealth creation.

Vinod Kumar, a farmer hailing from Kasibigha village, has emerged as an exemplar for his peers by departing from traditional farming and exploring innovative avenues to secure a brighter future for himself and his family.

Previously adhering to the family tradition, Vinod engaged in conventional farming, which proved insufficient to support his household.

Upon discovering the PMFME scheme, Vinod and his wife, Mona Kumari, seized the opportunity, receiving both financial backing and training from the government, which enabled them to venture into organic farming.

Today, the couple cultivates organic turmeric, chili, and coriander in their fields and sells directly to consumers, eliminating intermediaries.

They also invested in a grinding machine to package and sell their spices, which they distribute to smaller towns and larger cities.

Utilizing modern machinery, their turmeric and chili powder have established a reputation for quality, leading to increased market demand. They have also embraced online platforms to promote their products.

Mona Kumari reflects on her transformation from a housewife to a vital contributor to the family's income.

The couple's products are distinguished by their complete organic nature, free from chemical additives.

Both Vinod and Mona express their heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"This scheme has been a blessing for small-scale farmers like us. Without this support and guidance, we might not have achieved our current success," they stated.

Their achievements have encouraged fellow farmers in the village, with many now exploring spice processing alongside traditional agriculture.

Sujaat, the general manager of the Industries Department, noted that the PMFME scheme is highly advantageous, benefiting numerous residents in Sheikhpura.

He further emphasized that this initiative plays a vital role in empowering micro-food processing entrepreneurs.

He highlighted that the couple received essential financial assistance and technical support, enabling them to establish their business.

Moreover, Mona has become a source of inspiration for other women in the community.

The PMFME scheme is a central government initiative aimed at addressing the hurdles faced by micro-enterprises while harnessing the potential of groups and cooperatives to facilitate the modernization and formalization of these businesses.
