New Delhi, Nov 13 (NationPress) Reflecting on the tragic moments before the Red Fort explosion, Jagdish Kataria, the grieving father of Amar Kataria, a businessman from Chandni Chowk, revealed that his son had called him only ten minutes prior to the incident. Overwhelmed by grief, he recounted the details of their last conversation and the distressing hours that ensued.
The 34-year-old, who operated a pharmaceutical business and was passionate about travel and biking, had been married for four years and was the father of a three-year-old boy.
In an interview with IANS, Jagdish Kataria shared, “Just ten minutes before the incident, my son had called me. We were planning a family outing that day. He had closed his shop, and we were preparing to leave home. As we were heading to the Ashram, I asked my daughter to call him again, but the call wouldn't connect. Then, a woman answered the phone and informed me she found it near the Red Fort, where a blast had just taken place.”
He went on, “The woman instructed me to retrieve my son’s photo from Kashmere Gate. After that, I attempted to reach him again from a different number, but there was no answer. I then contacted his business partner, who began looking for him. Meanwhile, we also made our way to Daryaganj, but police barricades prevented us from entering. His wife rushed ahead while the rest of us remained outside, oblivious to the reality of the situation.”
Jagdish further explained, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta were on-site, making it difficult for us to gather information initially. Eventually, after their departure, we learned what had transpired. Early the next morning, around 5 a.m., we brought our son’s body home.”
He added, “My son was only 34 years old, married four years ago, and had a three-year-old son. I seek justice now. Many innocent lives have been lost. Terrorism is escalating – today it claimed my son, tomorrow it could be another family.”
Meanwhile, investigators examining the Delhi Red Fort explosion have discovered a diary and notebook in the possession of Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Umar Mohammad at Al Falah University in Faridabad, which provide crucial insights into the planning of the terror act. Authorities suspect that the suspects had been plotting for an extended period as part of a larger, organized scheme.
According to investigation agencies, the diaries retrieved on Tuesday and Wednesday from Dr. Umar’s room number 4 and Dr. Muzammil’s room number 13 are anticipated to address several significant questions regarding the blast.
The investigators confirmed that Dr. Umar Mohammad, a senior doctor at Al Falah University, was behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 car that detonated near the Red Fort on November 10, resulting in eight fatalities and injuring at least 20 others.
As per Delhi Police sources, DNA test results unequivocally confirmed Umar’s identity. His DNA matched 100% with that of his mother and brother, leaving no doubt that he was inside the vehicle during the explosion. The DNA was extracted from bone fragments, teeth, and clothing pieces found amid the wreckage of the car.
The powerful explosion occurred around 6:52 p.m. on November 10, sending shockwaves throughout the national capital and triggering immediate security alerts. The blast took place near one of India’s most famous landmarks, raising serious concerns about a breach within the high-security zone surrounding the Red Fort.
In the aftermath, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officially assumed control of the investigation from the Delhi Police Special Cell. NIA officials have secured the area and are conducting thorough forensic examinations of the debris, including explosive residues, vehicle components, and digital evidence, to trace the complete network behind the attack.
