Gurugram, Feb 13 (NationPress) A fugitive with a bounty of Rs 10,000 was apprehended at the India-Nepal border, having been on the run after being released on parole, police reported on Wednesday.
The individual has been named Surender, also known as Choti, hailing from Bans Aliyar village in Gurugram district.
As per police records, a report was filed at Police Station Sector-7 IMT Manesar, Gurugram, on September 9, indicating that inmate Surender, who was serving a life sentence due to murder charges in District Jail Gurugram, was granted a four-week parole starting on 14.08.2024 and was required to return to jail by 12.09.2024.
Surender failed to report back to prison after his parole period ended. Following this complaint, a case was registered under the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act at the aforementioned police station.
In a swift operation, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Lalit, Incharge of the Crime Branch Manesar, successfully captured the absconding individual at the India-Nepal border on Wednesday.
According to prison documentation, the accused has approximately 80 criminal charges against him, including burglary, attempted murder, and murder, with a life sentence given for the murder of his wife.
"The accused was residing in Nepal to evade law enforcement. Further procedures are being followed by the police team in accordance with regulations. The case remains under investigation," stated Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the district police.
In a related incident, Gurugram Police also detained six individuals from various locations in the city for possessing illegal liquor. The authorities seized 40 boxes of country-made liquor. The suspects have been identified as Pawan, Nadeem, Jagbir, Arpit Roy, Dheeraj Pal, and Arvind Kumar. The police have initiated cases against each suspect at six different police stations for further legal action.
