New Delhi, July 5 (NationPress) In a remarkable development, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has apprehended a notorious fugitive and a significant figure of the infamous Jitender Gogi gang in North Goa.
The individual, known as Mohit alias Panchhi, was sought after for his involvement in multiple serious offenses, notably the brazen 2016 attack aimed at liberating gangster Jitender Gogi from police custody in Bahadurgarh.
“This flagrant assault not only posed a threat to police personnel but also highlighted the gang's organized and violent tactics. A criminal case pertaining to this incident was officially registered at Sadar Police Station, Bahadurgarh,” stated the Delhi Police.
Utilizing precise intelligence, a specialized team led by Inspector Rampal from the Crime Branch’s Northern Range (NDR) located Mohit at Martyr Circle, North Goa, and successfully detained him on July 4.
Reports indicate that the suspect frequently altered his location and utilized mobile phones away from his hideouts to evade detection. Mohit was previously arrested in 2018 under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
In February 2025, he was granted temporary bail for his sister’s wedding but failed to return, leading to his declaration as a proclaimed offender by the court.
“Since that time, he has successfully eluded capture, hiding in various parts of South India, particularly in Mumbai, Goa, and Karnataka,” remarked Aditya Gauta, DCP Crime Branch.
This arrest culminates weeks of meticulous technical surveillance and intelligence gathering.
“During preliminary questioning, the accused identified himself as Mohit alias Panchhi, hailing from Village Panchhi Jatan, Ganaur, Sonipat, Haryana. He acknowledged his status as a Proclaimed Offender in FIR No. 252/18 under Sections 3 & 4 of MCOCA, Alipur, Delhi (currently under Special Cell investigation), after intentionally not returning to court,” the Delhi Police confirmed.
