New Delhi, Nov 3 (NationPress) The Indian Army's top leader, Gen Upendra Dwivedi, has unveiled a new book titled 'General’s Jottings Rearmed', penned by Lt Gen K.J. Singh (retd). This publication provides an in-depth look at Operation Sindoor and examines crucial national security issues, as confirmed by an official announcement on Monday.
During the launch, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) commended the author for offering profound insights into the shifting security framework of India, equipping readers with a practical toolkit to assess both national and global security challenges.
The book delves into modern conflicts, including Operation Sindoor, the ongoing Ukraine conflict, and the situation in Gaza, while also addressing India's border management, defense readiness, and regional dynamics, according to a post by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information on X.
This work stands as a thorough resource for grasping the intricate nature of contemporary warfare, strategic decision-making, and national security concerns, the official stated.
Previously, in September, Gen Upendra Dwivedi also launched Lt Gen K.J.S. Dhillon's (retd) book titled 'Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India's Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan', which recounts India's pivotal multi-domain operation along the Line of Control (LoC) that occurred earlier this year.
At the book launch, Gen Dwivedi emphasized that the operation extended beyond its well-known 88-hour duration.
“You might think the conflict ended on May 10. However, it persisted for an extended period due to the numerous decisions that needed to be made. This included determining when to initiate, when to conclude, and the allocation of time, resources, and strategic approach… all these aspects were continuously deliberated,” he stated.
In discussing his book, Lt Gen Dhillon (retd) remarked: “This book encompasses the events following independence, the buildup to the Pulwama incident, and the distinctions between Pulwama and Pahalgam, explaining why the latter was necessary, and detailing the timeline from Pahalgam up to the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 6 and 7.”
“I feel incredibly privileged to have the chief present today. The book meticulously outlines the planning, target selection, and the various considerations—such as the ifs, buts, whys, and hows—associated with these targets, ultimately leading to the matching of targets to weaponry,” he added.
