Ghazipur, March 16 (NationPress) Approximately 177 families from the Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh have successfully received their first instalment of ₹ 1 lakh each under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2.0 on Monday.
This initiative, introduced by the Government of India, is designed to offer permanent housing solutions to economically disadvantaged families nationwide.
As part of this program, funds were directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. Upon confirmation of the transfer, a wave of joy enveloped those receiving the aid, many of whom had eagerly awaited this support to construct their new homes.
During this event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath connected with beneficiaries from various districts through a virtual platform based in Lucknow. The Chief Minister took the opportunity to engage with numerous recipients, extending his congratulations for the assistance they received under this housing scheme.
A special gathering took place at the District Panchayat Hall in Ghazipur, where beneficiaries were presented with their certificates as part of the scheme. The distribution ceremony was attended by several officials and public representatives.
Sarita Agrawal, the Municipal Chairperson, confirmed to IANS that each beneficiary received ₹ 1 lakh directly under this initiative, with a total of 177 beneficiaries benefiting from the first instalment, all without any intermediary involvement.
She encouraged all recipients to take full advantage of various welfare initiatives being rolled out for the underprivileged, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Agrawal also highlighted a special scheme aimed at girls seeking to enter civil services, which provides free guidance and coaching for competitive examinations.
After receiving their certificates, beneficiaries expressed their joy and shared their stories. Two recipients told IANS that they had been residing in makeshift huts, tin sheds, or mud houses for years. During monsoon seasons, these structures often posed significant challenges due to leaks and inadequate shelter.
With the funds now credited to their accounts, the beneficiaries expressed their intent to commence construction of their homes soon, hoping to finish them before the onset of the rains. They believe that this housing assistance will greatly enhance their living conditions.
