The Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC), Tsering Naksang, met with the Governor at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar.
The Governor highlighted the necessity of stringent academic oversight, advising the Commission to monitor admissions closely to guarantee transparency and merit-based selection.
Additionally, he urged the Commission to maintain vigilant supervision over examinations and research standards to preserve the credibility and academic integrity of the institutions.
He reiterated that private institutions are required to adhere to infrastructure standards and continuously maintain essential facilities to facilitate effective learning.
Addressing concerns about academic excellence, Lt. Gen. Parnaik (Retd) recommended that the Commission implement rigorous quality control measures in accordance with University Grants Commission guidelines and State Government regulations.
The Governor emphasized the importance of the Commission regularly reviewing the operations of institutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and holding them accountable for providing quality education.
He stated that the Commission should not hesitate to take corrective actions, including suspending approvals or even shutting down institutions that consistently fail to meet national benchmarks and academic standards.
Such decisive oversight, he noted, would be vital in shaping the future of higher education in the State, ensuring that students receive education that is credible, competitive, and aligned with national expectations.
Members of APPEIRC informed the Governor about several pending issues at the departmental level needing immediate attention. The Governor assured them that the matters raised would be discussed with the relevant authorities for timely resolution.
The Chairman, along with members Limo Ete and Joram Aniya, and Secretary A.K. Tripathy, updated the Governor on the Commission's activities and initiatives.
Meanwhile, the Governor expressed his condolences over the passing of former MLA Talong Taggu, recognizing him as a pivotal figure who contributed to the early democratic framework of Arunachal Pradesh. He extended heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family and prayed for the departed soul's eternal peace.
