Key Takeaways
Gandhinagar, March 13 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, assured farmers on Friday that gas cylinders will be supplied promptly, asserting that there is no shortage despite the ongoing global circumstances.
During a state-level event for the PM-Kisan initiative, the Chief Minister communicated directly with the farming community.
Patel encouraged individuals to refrain from circulating false information regarding LPG availability and guaranteed that everyone in need of gas cylinders will receive them without any issues.
“The current global situation does not impede our gas supply. Anyone requiring gas can rest assured they will get it. Do not propagate false rumors. Gas cylinders will be delivered on time to all,” he stated.
This address occurred in conjunction with the launch of the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, wherein the central government transferred Rs 2,000 to eligible farmers via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the transfer from Guwahati, distributing over Rs 18,640 crore to more than 9.32 crore farming households nationwide.
In Gujarat alone, around 49.59 lakh farmer families are anticipated to receive over Rs 1,028 crore directly in their bank accounts as part of this latest installment.
Highlighting the scheme, Patel noted that whenever farmers' issues arise, the Prime Minister has consistently demonstrated empathy for them, dating back to his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister.
“Farming without adequate water resources poses significant challenges, underscoring the importance of the Narmada canal system in delivering water to remote areas of the state,” he remarked.
Patel also discussed the electricity supply for both agricultural and residential needs, stating that efforts have been made to ensure adequate electricity for farming and household consumption.
“Gujarat has embarked on the mission of providing uninterrupted electricity, with around 96 percent of farmers now receiving power during daylight hours,” he highlighted.
He stressed the importance of water conservation, indicating that rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge are critical.
“The 'Catch the Rain' initiative launched by the Prime Minister emphasizes the need for rainwater storage and conservation within the soil,” he added.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the Gujarat government has set aside Rs 50 lakh for each legislator and encouraged the public to voice their concerns to their local MLA for resolution.
Additionally, he urged farmers to embrace natural farming techniques, asserting that “the state’s governor has been visiting villages to disseminate information on its advantages to farmers.”
Patel expressed concern over the rise of diseases among younger populations, suggesting that chemical fertilizers might contribute to this trend, and stressed the necessity to transition to natural farming practices.
“The carbon content in the soil is diminishing. Farmers should adopt natural farming methods promptly,” he advised, emphasizing the need to enhance green cover to tackle global environmental issues and encouraging tree planting with nameplates.
Under the PM-Kisan scheme launched in 2019, eligible farming families receive an annual benefit of Rs 6,000 in three installments of Rs 2,000 directly transferred to their bank accounts.
