Key Takeaways
Gandhinagar, March 25 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat is set to launch the 'i-Khedut' portal from March 27 to April 26 to facilitate online submissions from farmers and livestock owners requesting support across 148 components in agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry schemes for the fiscal year 2026-27.
The Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister, Jitu Vaghani, highlighted that farmers can apply for 42 components in the agriculture domain, 94 in horticulture, and 12 in animal husbandry.
“The Agriculture Department will likely be the first in the state to initiate the portal for the new fiscal year soon after the budget is approved,” he remarked, emphasizing the department's dedication to ensuring immediate access to scheme benefits from the start of the financial year.
The application review will occur on a rolling basis.
“Eligible farmers will receive subsidies and aid immediately upon application verification, without waiting for the entire application process or the final submission date,” he stated, aiming for timely distribution of benefits.
He added that the application process is user-friendly, allowing farmers to register independently or through their local gram panchayat with Aadhaar verification.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their forms and necessary documents promptly to enhance their chances of receiving benefits.
The schemes provide financial assistance for acquiring modern farming equipment such as tractors, combine harvesters, rotavators, laser land levellers, power tillers, oil engines, and smartphones.
Support is also offered for protective measures including thorn fencing, crop storage structures, solar power units, and pump sets.
In the horticulture sector, aid is available for mini tractors up to 20 PTO horsepower, net houses, polyhouses, and cold storage facilities, along with support for growing fruits, flowers, and vegetables.
The schemes also feature incentives for cultivating crops such as dragon fruit and oil palm. For livestock handlers, assistance includes funds for constructing cattle sheds, developing dairy farms for milch animals, providing poultry training stipends, and establishing goat units.
This announcement is part of the state government's initiative under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel aimed at modernizing agriculture and enhancing farmers' incomes.
