Ahmedabad, Dec 11 (NationPress) Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned the addition of 11 new talukas to the list of "developing talukas", reinforcing the state's commitment to balanced regional development.

Each of these talukas will be allocated Rs 2 crore annually for various development projects under the Developing Taluka Scheme.

Moreover, an extra Rs 1 crore will be granted through the Aapno Taluko Vibrant Taluko (ATVT) initiative, raising the total annual grant to Rs 3 crore per taluka. The newly recognized developing talukas include: Kadval (Chhota Udepur), Ukai (Tapi), Govind Guru Limdi (Dahod), Sukhsar (Dahod), Chikda (Narmada), Rah (Vav-Tharad), Dharnidhar (Vav-Tharad), Ogad (Banaskantha), Hadad (Banaskantha), Godhar (Mahisagar), and Nanapondha (Valsad).

Gujarat employs a methodical approach to identify developing talukas, utilizing 44 socio-economic indicators from the Human Development Index. The goal is to ensure that every region—whether established or newly formed—benefits from strategic planning for both immediate and long-term growth.

In recent times, the state has created 17 new talukas to enhance administrative efficiency while addressing regional needs. Some of these newly formed talukas, where over 50 percent of villages were previously classified as developing, have now achieved that status themselves.

Officials noted that the Chief Minister's decision is expected to enhance infrastructure, social development, and governance capabilities within these regions, allowing them to contribute more effectively to Gujarat's journey towards inclusive progress.

Recognized as one of India's most economically advanced and industrially vibrant states, Gujarat boasts a robust manufacturing base, top-tier infrastructure, and rapid urbanization. It excels in sectors such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, automobiles, renewable energy, and ports, supported by efficient industrial clusters and business-friendly governance.

The state consistently achieves high rankings in ease of doing business, featuring a comprehensive road network, major commercial ports, a reliable power supply, and expanding renewable energy capacity. Social indicators—including sanitation, electrification, drinking water access, and digital connectivity—have also seen significant improvements.

Despite challenges related to rural-urban disparities and human development metrics, Gujarat's growth model solidifies its position as one of India's most developed and forward-thinking states.
