New Delhi, Sep 15 (NationPress) Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri chaired a session of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee 'DISHA' on Monday, where he evaluated a number of developmental initiatives taking place in the city.
He praised the sacred town for establishing itself as a 'model city' for growth and progress.
The session, which involved both officials and community representatives, focused on assessing the advancement of development projects while also gathering public insights.
It is important to note that the DISHA committees were established by the Centre, led by relevant Parliament members, to oversee the execution of significant Central Government initiatives at the grassroots level.
Following the review of development programs, the Union Minister shared updates about completed and ongoing projects on his social media platform X.
He revealed in a post on X, “From 2014 to present, 486 projects worth Rs 35,155 crore have been completed in Varanasi, and there are 125 additional projects in progress valued at Rs 16,338 crore.”
Hardeep Puri mentioned that Kashi is emerging as a model city of development and extensive discussions were held during the DISHA meeting to further enhance the city’s development.
“The next DISHA meeting is eagerly anticipated to boost coordination and accelerate the pace of development even more,” he stated.
He also remarked that the flow of development in Kashi is as continuous as the flow of Mother Ganga. He highlighted Kashi’s modern advancements while preserving its ancient essence and suggested that the city has a promising future intertwined with its rich heritage.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for various development projects worth around Rs 2,200 crore in sectors such as education, health services, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage, enhancing the splendor of modern and divine Kashi.
