Hyderabad, Dec 22 (NationPress) The Telangana tourism department has announced exciting plans for an international kite festival, along with hot air balloon and drone festivals in Hyderabad to mark the Sankranti celebrations next month.
The Kite Festival is scheduled to take place from January 13 to 15 at the Parade Grounds, featuring participants from both international and national kite flyers.
As stated by the Managing Director of the Tourism Department, V. Kranti, a variety of events are in the pipeline for the Sankranti festivities.
A hot air balloon festival will occur on the outskirts of the city during the same timeframe, aiming to offer a unique visual experience for attendees. Additionally, a drone festival is set to feature pilots from across the nation showcasing their skills, introducing a modern and tech-savvy element to the celebrations.
On Monday, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao convened a review meeting at the Secretariat to discuss preparations for the kite festival.
Highlighting the significance of the event, the Chief Secretary emphasized that, following the directives of the Chief Minister, the kite festival should be organized on a grand scale that reflects Hyderabad’s rich culture and festive spirit.
He also urged the relevant departments to develop a memorable name, distinct branding, and an appealing logo for the festival to enhance its identity and visibility.
The Chief Minister expressed a desire for the festival to be hosted at lakes rejuvenated by HYDRA, showcasing the successful revitalization of these water bodies.
Additionally, he instructed the GHMC, HMDA, and HYDRA to appoint dedicated officers to oversee and coordinate activities related to the festival at the designated sites.
The Chief Secretary also mentioned that ministers would visit the rejuvenated lakes starting the first week of January to assess the arrangements and readiness.
During the meeting, HYDRA Chief A.V. Ranganath provided a comprehensive presentation on the various lakes and tanks revitalized by HYDRA in the city, underscoring restoration efforts aimed at enhancing water storage, environmental sustainability, and public utility.
