Jammu, Feb 25 (NationPress) In a significant operation on Wednesday, joint security forces successfully uncovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), arms, and ammunition within the forests of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The White Knight Corps of the Army, based in Nagrota, announced via a post on X that a coordinated operation was initiated in the Gani forest area of Poonch following critical intelligence inputs, leading to the discovery of weapons hidden in a cave.
The operation was conducted under the codename Operation Gani.
According to the Army's post, "Utilizing synergized intelligence from our sources and @JmuKmrPolice, the troops of the White Knight Corps and SOG Poonch executed a Joint Operation in the Gani Forest area of Poonch. Showcasing precision in coordination, the thorough search resulted in the recovery of a concealed terrorist cache within a natural cave."
Among the recovered items were one large IED weighing 4.5 kg, one smaller IED of 800 grams, two Chinese grenades, a 9 mm pistol, two rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and twenty-two 7.62 mm rounds.
The Bomb Disposal Team promptly destroyed the IEDs and grenades on-site to ensure the safety of local civilians and military personnel.

In connection with this incident, the local police have registered a case at the Mendhar Police Station.
This operation follows the previous success where joint security forces neutralized three terrorists backed by Pakistan in the Kishtwar district under Operation TRASHI-I.
The J&K Police and other security forces are actively engaged in anti-terror operations within the hinterland, while the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) are responsible for securing the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border (IB) respectively.
The region of Jammu and Kashmir is characterized by a 740 km-long LoC and a 240 km-long IB, with the LoC spanning areas in Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu district. The IB extends across Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts.
The Army and BSF are on high alert to combat cross-border infiltration, drug trafficking, and drone operations originating from the Pakistani side of the border.
In addition to their focus on anti-terror operations, security forces are also targeting individuals involved in drug smuggling, drug peddling, and unlawful financial activities such as hawala, which are believed to fund terrorism within the union territory.
