New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) On Saturday, India expressed its significant concern regarding the latest events unfolding in Iran and the Gulf region. The nation urged all involved parties to exercise restraint, prevent any escalation, and focus on the safety of civilians.
"India is profoundly worried about the current situation in Iran and the Gulf region. We call upon all parties to practice restraint, avert escalation, and ensure the safety of civilians. It is crucial that dialogue and diplomacy are prioritized to mitigate tensions and address core issues. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations must be honored," stated a release from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted, "Our Missions in the area are in contact with Indian nationals and have issued necessary advisories urging them to remain alert, keep in touch with the Missions, and adhere to local security guidelines."
Earlier, the Embassy of India in Tehran recommended that all Indian nationals in Iran take extreme caution, limit unnecessary movements, and stay indoors whenever possible due to the evolving situation.
"Indians are encouraged to keep up with the news, stay aware of the situation, and await further instructions from the Embassy of India," the advisory mentioned, providing emergency contact information for the Embassy.
As tensions escalated, the Embassy of India in Doha released an "important advisory," urging Indian citizens in Qatar to exercise caution and stay updated on news and advisory updates from the Embassy and local authorities.
"Given the present regional context, all Indian nationals in Qatar are urged to exercise caution, stay informed, and adhere to advisories from the Embassy and local authorities. Our Embassy continues to operate normally," the advisory stated.
The Embassy of India in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also issued an urgent advisory due to the current regional tensions, advising Indian nationals in the UAE to avoid unnecessary travel, remain alert, and follow safety protocols and advisories issued by the UAE authorities and the Embassy.
"The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai are functioning as usual and will provide updates as necessary," it mentioned, urging Indian nationals in the UAE to reach out via toll-free and WhatsApp numbers in case of emergencies.
