During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Poland in 2024, the nations elevated their ties to a Strategic Partnership level and agreed upon a five-year Joint Action Plan for 2024-2028.
Earlier, on January 19, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to discuss enhancing cooperation in various sectors including economic development, technology, defence, mining, as well as people-to-people and multilateral collaborations.
According to EAM Jaishankar's post on X, "The discussion with DPM Radoslaw Sikorski was an opportunity to engage in an open dialogue regarding our bilateral relations and global affairs. We deliberated on advancing our collaborations in economic, technology, defence, mining, and multilateral cooperation, also acknowledging Poland’s support for stronger India-EU ties."
In December, both countries conducted the 11th round of Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi, where they committed to accelerating cooperation in defence, security, science and technology, cyber security, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The meeting co-chaired by Sibi George and Wladyslaw T Bartoszewski reaffirmed their shared dedication to combatting terrorism in all its forms.
The MEA noted, "Today’s 11th round of India-Poland Foreign Office Consultations, co-chaired by Sibi George and Wladyslaw T Bartoszewski, assessed the progress under the India-Poland Strategic Partnership, particularly concerning the Five Year Action Plan (2024-2028) agreed upon during PM Modi's visit to Poland in August 2024."
They concurred on the need to expedite collaboration in defence, security, science and technology, cyber security, and AI. Both sides reiterated their commitment to fighting terrorism in all its forms. Notably, Poland stands as India’s largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe, and Poland expressed its support for an early conclusion of the India-EU FTA.
