India: The Cradle of Democracy, As Stated by PM Modi

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) Designating India as the “Cradle of Democracy”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi articulated on Saturday that the Constitution serves as the cornerstone of the nation’s unity.
During the second day of discussions commemorating 75 years since the Constitution's enactment, PM Modi referenced comments made by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, emphasizing the significance of collective decision-making in fostering a sense of unity.
“It pains me to acknowledge that post-Independence, driven by self-serving interests, there has been an assault on the fundamental essence of our nation that cherishes unity in diversity. Embracing unity in diversity in our lives will be the greatest homage to Dr. Ambedkar,” stated the Prime Minister while addressing the Lok Sabha.
In mentioning Article 370 as an obstacle to national unity, PM Modi asserted that this was why our administration eliminated it, as “unity is our priority”.
He acknowledged the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as a mechanism of economic unity that promotes the principle of “One Nation, One Tax”, and pointed out “One Nation, One Ration Card” as another initiative aimed at enhancing national unity.
“We embody the slogan of unity in diversity. Consequently, we initiated the ‘One Nation, One Health Card’ to ensure nationwide health insurance provision,” PM Modi remarked.
“The One Nation, One Grid initiative was another step taken to eliminate disparities in electricity distribution across different regions of the country, illuminating previously dark areas,” PM Modi continued, underscoring his government's commitment to ameliorating inequalities in infrastructure development.
He highlighted the establishment of an optical fiber link for all panchayats, emphasizing that the government aims to avert a scenario of “haves and have nots” in the realm of digital services.
The New Education Policy has also championed the mother tongue and adhered to the Constitution's directives, enabling even regional and underprivileged students to pursue higher education in their native languages, PM Modi noted.
Furthermore, he praised the accomplishments of women, particularly in space technology, attributing this progress to the statute that inspires women-led development and noting that a woman currently serves as the nation’s President.
“Very soon, we will emerge as the third-largest economy and by the centenary of our Independence, we are dedicated to evolving into a development-focused nation,” concluded PM Modi.
