Washington, April 11 (NationPress) India and the United States have significantly enhanced their collaboration on energy, key technologies, and defense during Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri's discussions with senior US officials this week, indicating a deeper strategic partnership.

On the last day of his intensive three-day agenda, energy cooperation was a major focus, highlighted by Misri's meeting with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

The Indian Embassy in Washington reported that Misri "engaged with Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The conversations centered on improving energy security, increasing bilateral energy trade, and exploring new pathways to fortify the India-US Energy Partnership."

US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, emphasized the growing collaboration in this field. "Following India’s landmark SHANTI bill enactment, we are poised to collaborate on civil nuclear initiatives alongside other areas such as coal gasification and US LPG exports," he noted.

In addition to energy discussions, the agenda also included emerging technologies and supply chains.

The US Department of Commerce stated, "This week, Under Secretary William Kimmitt and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri convened to discuss enhancing US-India cooperation on critical and emerging technologies, ensuring reliable supply chains, and investigating opportunities for US AI exports."

Misri also engaged in talks with senior officials at the White House, including members of the National Security Council.

The Indian Embassy indicated that the discussions addressed "topics of mutual strategic interest, including the Indian Ocean Strategic Venture and recent developments in West Asia."

Defense cooperation was another key aspect of the meetings.

Gor remarked, "The US Army and Indian Army are set to play a crucial role in strengthening defense relations."

He further stated, "The defense collaboration between the US and India continues to grow, making both nations safer and stronger," referencing talks on "defense sales of US equipment and enhancing interoperability."

Misri participated in a reception at India House hosted by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, where he interacted with officials and stakeholders from various sectors of the US administration.

The Indian Embassy highlighted that he "engaged with allies and partners from across the US Administration, reaffirming the robust and dynamic bilateral partnership, and collective efforts to further strengthen relations."

These meetings underscore the increasing alignment between New Delhi and Washington on strategic and economic priorities, such as energy security, technology collaboration, and defense relations.
