Intense Situation as Arrested BJP MLC C.T. Ravi Alleges Police Conspiracy to Endanger His Life

Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 20 (NationPress) Intense drama surrounded the detention of BJP MLC C.T. Ravi on Friday after he alleged that the police were conspiring to take his life while he was in their custody in Belagavi district of Karnataka.

C.T. Ravi was arrested on charges of sexual harassment following his reported derogatory comments directed at Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Laxmi Hebbalkar.

In her police complaint, Minister Laxmi accused C.T. Ravi of using highly objectionable language against her during a session of the Legislative Council.

The police from Hirebagewadi apprehended C.T. Ravi at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on Thursday evening.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the Khanapur police station. Throughout the night, Ravi was taken to various locations by the police.

At approximately 3 A.M. on Friday, the BJP MLC refused to accompany the police to Ramadurga, questioning the rationale behind being taken to multiple locations. He staged a dharna on the roadway, asserting that the police were plotting to murder him.

C.T. Ravi further interrogated the police, inquiring why he was not formally taken into custody.

“In my 35 years in politics, I have never encountered such a scenario. The police receive instructions from higher authorities and comply accordingly. They have become helpless. I had come to participate in the session, and the Speaker was my caretaker.

“The Chairperson of the Legislative Council will determine the outcome of what transpired in the session. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar verbally attacked me. I received public threats of murder and was assaulted thrice at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. I lodged a complaint at the Khanapur police station, but they have failed to register the FIR, only acknowledging receipt of my complaint,” Ravi claimed.

A video has emerged showing Ravi being forcibly taken into a police vehicle with blood seeping from his forehead, raising concerns about the police's handling of the situation.

The police transported Ravi to an undisclosed location from Ramdurga. He was later taken to the Belagavi Community Health Centre for a health assessment at 10 A.M., and sources indicate he will be presented before the Belagavi court.

During a heated debate in the Council earlier, C.T. Ravi reportedly labeled Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as a “drug addict.”

Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar responded to these remarks by criticizing Ravi and allegedly referred to him as a “murderer.”

In retaliation, the BJP leader allegedly insulted the female Minister by calling her a “prostitute,” which caused her to break into tears.

The BJP has announced a statewide protest against the arrest of C.T. Ravi.
