BJP MLC C.T. Ravi Released After High Court Ruling, Proclaims ‘Satyameva Jayate’

Davanagere (Karnataka), Dec 20 (NationPress) BJP MLA C.T. Ravi, detained for purportedly using a derogatory remark against Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, was released in Davanagere by the Karnataka Police on Friday night after a ruling from the High Court.

A significant number of party supporters gave him a warm welcome, chanting slogans against the Congress administration. The State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra and Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka were on hand to greet him as he was transported to Bengaluru in a police vehicle.

Earlier in the day, the High Court had mandated that the police department release C.T. Ravi without delay.

Upon his release, C.T. Ravi addressed a joint press conference alongside Vijayendra and Ashoka in Davanagere, declaring that truth has triumphed. “Satyameva Jayate,” he proclaimed.

“The police took me through over 50 villages overnight to subject me to mental and physical strain. The Congress government employed police forces to undermine me. My party leaders offered unwavering support and strength. Party workers statewide rallied in solidarity with me,” he asserted.

“I prefer not to elaborate on today’s ruling. I had insisted in Belagavi that truth would prevail, and now it has. I do not get elated by this decision. The Congress government is mistaken if they believe they could suppress me. I encountered similar situations 35 years ago and emerged stronger,” he remarked.

“The hardships inflicted by the Congress government have fortified my resolve to assist party workers,” Ravi added.

After the High Court ruling, BJP MLC C.T. Ravi affirmed that he has never engaged in personal attacks against adversaries, emphasizing that his criticisms were strictly “ideological and political.”

During a media briefing in Haveri district following the High Court’s directive for his release, Ravi challenged the public to learn about him by conversing with residents of his hometown Chikkamagaluru. “Let the public inquire about Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar in Ramanagar,” he stated.

Ravi also mentioned that the Chairman of the Legislative Council confirmed there is no audio or video evidence of the alleged derogatory term used in the council. This matter will be addressed by the Chairman. He claimed the government has fabricated charges and treated him like a terrorist.

“Once I receive the court documents, I will discuss the issue in detail. I have not slept since Thursday and am currently experiencing a headache. Despite filing a complaint with evidence, the police have not registered an FIR regarding the attacks on me,” he said.

The dispute began during a heated discussion in the Legislative Council on Thursday when Ravi allegedly referred to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi as a “drug addict.” Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar retaliated by labeling Ravi a “murderer.” In response, Ravi allegedly used an obscene term against Hebbalkar, escalating the conflict. Ravi was arrested later that evening.
