Is the Police Investigating Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s Death Due to Medical Advice?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jodhpur, Jan 31 (NationPress) Sadhvi Prem Baisa, a notable spiritual leader and storyteller, passed away under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday evening at an ashram located in Pal village within the Boranada police jurisdiction of Rajasthan. Authorities are looking into the events surrounding her demise, particularly focusing on an injection that was allegedly given shortly before her death.
A nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been assembled to thoroughly investigate the matter. This team will operate under the guidance of ACP Chhavi Sharma.
In an interview with IANS, ACP Chhavi Sharma stated, “According to a report submitted by her father on January 28, Sadhvi Prem Baisa had been unwell throughout that day. A compounder was called to her residence, who administered an injection. Following that, her condition deteriorated, leading to her transfer to a private hospital where she was pronounced dead.
“Her body was subsequently taken to the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, and a post-mortem was performed on January 29. The results of the post-mortem are currently pending.
“Investigators are probing technical evidence, including mobile phone records, CCTV footage from the ashram, and other digital data to piece together her last hours.
“The compounder, identified as Devi Singh, has been detained and is being interrogated regarding the injection. The police are examining if the injection was administered on medical advice, the nature of the medication, and whether it played a role in her passing.
The case has garnered significant public attention, especially after a post appeared on Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s social media account roughly four hours post her death, stating, “If not in my lifetime, then I will achieve justice after my death.” This message has fueled speculation about whether her death was a result of suicide, medical negligence, or foul play.
The investigation has also brought to light a previous blackmail case. In July 2025, a video featuring Prem Baisa and a man circulated widely on social media. She lodged a complaint at the Boranada police station, asserting that the man was her father and that the footage dated back to 2021, during a period of her depression.
The accused reportedly attempted to extort Rs 20 lakh by threatening to release the video. Four individuals, including Jogendra alias Jogaram, his wife Krishna, and her former driver Ramesh, have been apprehended in connection with this case.
Prem Baisa had previously declared, “These individuals have defamed the saffron robe. I am prepared to undergo an ordeal by fire to prove my innocence.” Police officials have indicated that the accused intentionally sought to damage her reputation.
Authorities have pledged to take further action based on the findings of the post-mortem and the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, social media continues to call for a thorough investigation and accountability for those implicated.
