Jaipur, Feb 14 (NationPress) Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash revealed on Saturday that storyteller Sadhvi Prem Baisa succumbed to a heart attack.

As per the comprehensive report from the medical board, the main cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest due to a severe lung condition. The Commissioner pointed out that compounder Devi Singh neglected medical protocols during treatment, suggesting negligence.

Following the FSL and histopathological reports received on February 12, the medical board determined that Sadhvi died from shock caused by cardiopulmonary arrest as a result of lung ailments, potentially including asthma or COPD.

The police commissioner emphasized that scientific tests found no evidence of poison in her system. Furthermore, there were no indications of sexual assault or any external or internal injuries.

Given the case's sensitivity, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) gathered evidence at various levels during the inquiry. The Police Commissioner mentioned that a new medical board opinion has been requested regarding the impact of certain medications given to Sadhvi.

Once the board’s final report is received, legal action will be taken against the compounder under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Rajasthan Medical Act, 1952.

Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s health began to decline on January 28 at her Aarti Nagar ashram in Boranada, Jodhpur.

She was reportedly experiencing a cold and breathing difficulties, after which compounder Devi Singh administered two injections. Shortly after receiving the injections, her condition rapidly deteriorated.

Her family rushed her to Preksha Hospital on Pal Road, where medical professionals pronounced her dead. Her father, Veeram Nath, took the body back to the ashram, but police intervention eventually led to the body being moved to the MGH mortuary.

A postmortem was conducted on January 29, and the body was returned to the family that same evening.

On January 30, Sadhvi Prem Baisa was laid to rest in Pareu village in Barmer district.

Viscera samples were dispatched for forensic analysis on February 2. The FSL examination concluded in 11 days, with the report submitted to Jodhpur Police on Thursday.

Based on the FSL and postmortem results, expert opinions were also solicited to finalize the investigation.
