What Happened to Sadhvi Prem Baisa? Burial and Controversy Unfold
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Jan 30 (NationPress) Sadhvi Prem Baisa (23) was interred on Friday at her ashram in Pareu village, Balotra, following her unexplained demise.
Burial ceremonies were conducted in accordance with religious customs, attended by a large assembly of sadhus, saints, and followers. Bhajans and mantras were recited, and the samadhi was honored following the completion of the ceremonies.
Prem Baisa was taken to a private hospital in Jodhpur on Wednesday, where she reportedly passed away within minutes of arrival.
Her father, Veeram Nath (Viramnath), asserted that she was merely experiencing a mild cold and sore throat. He claimed that following an injection administered at an ashram in Jodhpur, her condition rapidly declined.
“She had a series of engagements and had taken a day off on the 28th. I suggested transferring her to Preksha Hospital, but she declined and asked for someone nearby. Within 30 seconds of the injection, her health worsened,” he recounted.
He emphasized that a thorough investigation is necessary, and the medical report should be made public. He mentioned her supposed last words, stating, “I did not receive justice in my lifetime, but please ensure I receive justice.”
Following her death, an alleged suicide note emerged, further complicating the situation.
The Sadhvi’s remains were transported to Pareu village on Thursday evening. Her father, who accompanied the body, was seen mourning deeply.
The burial concluded around 12:30 PM on Friday at her ashram.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding her passing are currently pending.
In the meantime, an earlier blackmail case linked to the Sadhvi has resurfaced. Numerous followers have also raised questions about the involvement of her father and the administration of the ashram.
On July 13, 2025, a video featuring Prem Baisa with a man went viral on social media, depicted as obscene. She filed a complaint at Boranada police station on July 16, asserting that the man in the video was her father and that the footage, which dated back to 2021, captured a moment of comfort during her struggle with depression.
The police subsequently arrested four individuals, including Jogendra alias Jogaram (29), a sound system installer; her former driver Ramesh; Jogendra’s wife Krishna; and another associate.
According to the FIR, Jogendra allegedly extracted the video from a CCTV camera installed at her residence and, along with others, demanded Rs 20 lakh, threatening to make the video public.
When she declined, the video was allegedly edited and disseminated online.
At the time, Prem Baisa remarked, “These individuals have tarnished the saffron robe. I am willing to undergo an ordeal by fire to prove my innocence.”
Police officials stated that the accused intentionally damaged her reputation.
