Mumbai, Oct 17 (NationPress) BJP MLA Ram Kadam responded critically to Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, stating that neither the citizens nor his own party members take him seriously.
In an interview with IANS, Ram Kadam remarked, “People across the nation recognize who Rahul Gandhi is. Since he took charge of Congress, the party has faced defeat in nearly every election, winning only once or twice. Even members of his party seem to disregard him.”
Kadam further commented, “His visit does not warrant serious attention. It is his personal decision where he chooses to go, but he ought to steer clear of engaging in petty politics. If Rahul Gandhi had genuine intentions, he would receive warm welcomes wherever he goes. However, his motives appear questionable; he is merely pursuing trivial political gains.”
Congress leader Udit Raj also shared his perspective, stating, “With incidents like the deaths of Y. Puran and Valmiki, as well as the incident involving a shoe thrown at the Chief Justice of India, there is a growing concern over harassment. If Rahul Gandhi does not advocate for the poor and marginalized, who will? He represents their only hope. The nation’s underprivileged, Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities look up to him.”
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi met with the family of Dalit Hariom Valmiki, who was recently killed in Raebareli, to show his support during their time of mourning.
Reports indicated that the family declined to meet him, claiming satisfaction with the government's response. Additionally, posters appeared along his route, stating that political exploitation of the situation was unwelcome. Members of the Congress party removed these posters, alleging that the family was coerced into making statements under governmental pressure.
Eventually, the relatives of Hariom Valmiki met with Rahul Gandhi amidst significant police presence.
On social media platform ‘X’, he expressed, “The horrific murder of Hariom Valmiki has disturbed the moral fabric of our nation. His family’s eyes were filled with anguish. Is being a Dalit a crime in our country? In Uttar Pradesh, authorities are actively intimidating the victim's family, even attempting to prevent their meeting with me. This reflects the systemic failure that protects perpetrators while victimizing the innocent.”
“Justice cannot be confined. The BJP administration must cease the pressure on the victim's family and ensure that the guilty receive the strictest punishment. I stand resolutely with Hariom Valmiki’s family and every marginalized citizen in our nation. This struggle is not solely for Hariom; it is for every individual who refuses to succumb to injustice,” he stated.
Following his meeting with the bereaved family, Gandhi condemned the incident, asserting, “The attack on Hariom Valmiki represents a serious violation of our Constitution. Such a regressive ideology stains our society. We will relentlessly combat this injustice and oppression. Our governance will be guided by Babasaheb’s Constitution, not by Manuism.”
The lynching of the Dalit youth in Raebareli has ignited widespread outrage and escalated into a significant political controversy. The city’s leading police official confirmed that five suspects have been arrested, with further investigations ongoing to apprehend additional suspects as their involvement is validated.
This incident has triggered a political showdown, with Congress accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of shielding the offenders. The government has refuted these accusations, asserting that prompt actions have been taken.
Hariom allegedly met his demise after being brutally beaten by locals who mistakenly believed he was a thief.
