New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) Former Delhi Chief Minister and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, is currently embroiled in 14 criminal cases, which include one linked to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Amethi, alongside others related to alleged discrepancies in the execution of the Delhi Excise Policy.

This information was revealed in his affidavit submitted on Wednesday in preparation for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5. Notably, his 2020 election affidavit cited 13 ongoing criminal cases.

Kejriwal reported having Rs 40,000 in cash, while his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, declared Rs 32,000. The total value of his movable assets is Rs 3.46 lakh, compared to Sunita’s Rs 1 crore.

Additionally, Kejriwal possesses immovable assets valued at Rs 1.7 crore, while Sunita has assets worth Rs 1.5 crore.

In contrast, their 2020 affidavit listed Kejriwal’s movable assets at Rs 9.95 lakh and Sunita's at Rs 57 lakh.

At that time, their immovable assets were assessed at Rs 1.77 crore and Rs 1 crore, respectively.

Although Kejriwal does not own a car or house, Sunita drives a 2017 model Maruti Baleno.

The affidavit further discloses that Sunita owns jewellery worth Rs 25.9 lakh, which includes 320 grams of gold.

The couple holds no liabilities.

As for their incomes for 2023-24, Kejriwal earned Rs 7,21,530 from his legislative salary, while Sunita’s pension income was Rs 14,10,740.

Additionally, Sunita possesses a house in Gurugram, as indicated in the affidavit.

Arvind Kejriwal is aiming for re-election as an MLA from the New Delhi constituency. This significant seat is expected to witness a competitive battle among the sons of two former chief ministers of Delhi.

The BJP’s candidate is Parvesh Verma, while Sandeep Dikshit is running on a Congress ticket.

Both Verma and Kejriwal submitted their nomination papers on Wednesday, while Sandeep Dikshit is anticipated to file his nomination on Thursday.
