New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi Marlena, has seen her immovable assets rise by Rs 17.14 lakh since the previous Assembly elections. Notably, the affidavit accompanying her nomination papers from the Kalkaji constituency does not include a name for the spouse column, which was filled in 2020.
As Marlena's political journey progresses, the number of pending criminal cases against her has also increased, now totaling four compared to just one in 2020. However, she has not faced any convictions for criminal offenses.
The affidavit submitted on Tuesday confirms that her official name remains Atishi Marlena and not merely Atishi, a name she adopted to deflect criticism from opponents regarding her unique surname, which combines Marxist and Leninist elements.
Marlena's movable assets are now valued at Rs 76.93 lakh, an increase from Rs 59.79 lakh in 2020.
While her 2020 affidavit listed Praveen Singh as her husband, the current document leaves the spouse section either blank or marked as “not applicable”.
In 2020, her husband's immovable assets were reported at Rs 81.42 lakh. Praveen Singh, an IIT and IIM graduate, is a researcher.
Social media indicates that both Atishi and Praveen have worked on educational reforms in Madhya Pradesh for seven years.

While Lamba holds an M.Sc in Applied Chemistry and a Masters in Education from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, Atishi Marlena lists her highest qualification as a Master in Science from the University of Oxford in 2006.
