Has the Congress Government Really Destroyed 'Golden Telangana'?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Dec 28 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday accused the Congress government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of dismantling a “golden Telangana” that was established during the decade of BRS governance. He emphasized that it was the policies of BRS that propelled land values in Hyderabad to astronomical heights, reaching up to Rs 150 crore per acre.
KTR further criticized the Congress government for undermining the development achieved in Palamuru (Mahabubnagar) district, leading to distress and significant migration.
Speaking at a gathering of newly elected sarpanches in Nagarkurnool, he pointed out the Congress government's inability to advance crucial irrigation and development projects, effectively reversing years of progress made during the BRS administration. He claimed that, despite being in power for two years, the Congress government has not completed even 10 percent of the projects initiated previously.
“Palamuru thrived and flourished under KCR’s leadership. Now, without even executing a single project, the Chief Minister engages in irresponsible and abusive discourse. Congress has once again transformed Palamuru into a migration district by halting projects and depleting irrigation resources,” KTR stated, referring to him as the widely recognized BRS leader.
He noted that nearly 90 percent of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project was completed under KCR's government. However, following their ascent to power, the Congress government annulled sanctioned tenders, severely crippling the project. KTR also claimed that the Revanth Reddy government has compromised Telangana’s rightful water allocations, critically affecting farmers.
KTR announced that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is gearing up for another phase of activism to defend the Palamuru–Rangareddy project, protect Telangana’s water rights, and stand by farmers. He invited the residents of the region to rally behind this movement, indicating that KCR would soon visit Palamuru.
Highlighting the agrarian crisis, KTR stated that the Congress government has substituted the “Rythu Bandhu” era with what he termed “Ra-Bandhu” (Vulture) rule. He alleged that farmers are now compelled to plead for urea fertilizer, enduring long queues even in frigid conditions. “Revanth Reddy shows no concern for farmers. Under KCR’s tenure, there was never a deficiency of urea, and farmers received fertilizers as required,” he asserted.
KTR accused the Congress of assuming power with unrealistic promises and deceiving the public afterward. He mentioned that the Chief Minister resorts to abusive language when questioned about the fulfillment of electoral promises, even after two years in office.
Stating that Revanth Reddy is fixated on disparaging KCR at every opportunity, KTR observed that the Chief Minister’s frustration is palpable. He challenged Revanth Reddy to publicly vow to ensure an uninterrupted supply of urea to farmers and actualize the promised Rs 4,000 pension scheme.
Reiterating that “wherever Congress governs, progress is absent,” KTR expressed that Telangana is experiencing this very reality. He confidently predicted that the Congress government has merely two years remaining before BRS returns to power. “Only a KCR-led government can restore development, prosperity, and dignity to villages,” he concluded.
