Hyderabad, April 9 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), extended an invitation to former minister Jeevan Reddy to join the BRS on Thursday.
Jeevan Reddy has recently stepped down from the Congress party.
During his visit to Jagtial, KTR met with the senior leader at his residence to convey the invitation on behalf of party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR). Several prominent party officials and public representatives accompanied him.
In a statement to the press, KTR mentioned that Jeevan Reddy reacted favorably to the invitation. He noted that Jeevan Reddy acknowledged their long-standing personal relationship and expressed satisfaction over KTR's visit. Jeevan Reddy plans to meet KCR shortly and is expected to announce his decision within a few days.
KTR stressed that the return of KCR as Chief Minister is vital for restoring stability and happiness for the farmers and underprivileged communities in the state. He stated that seasoned leaders like Jeevan Reddy are crucial for revitalizing Telangana’s growth.
KTR highlighted Jeevan Reddy's political journey, emphasizing his over forty years of dedicated service to the Congress party. He recalled that KCR had previously invited him to join the BRS before the 2014 elections, but Jeevan remained loyal to the Congress.
He elaborated on the strong personal bond between KCR and Jeevan Reddy, forged through decades of mutual respect.
KTR remarked that during KCR’s inaugural official tour of Karimnagar district as Chief Minister in 2014, development initiatives requested by Jeevan Reddy, despite his opposition status, were promptly approved—demonstrating a statesmanlike quality transcending party lines.
KTR also praised Jeevan Reddy's vigorous support for farmers in the Assembly and his relentless advocacy on matters such as Nizam Sugars. He recalled KCR’s offer to assist in reviving the sugar factory under a cooperative structure, inspired by a model in Maharashtra, with financial support and leadership opportunities for Jeevan Reddy.
KTR expressed gratitude to the Jagtial district leadership for their proactive role in welcoming Jeevan Reddy into the party, acknowledging their dedication to strengthening BRS and their efforts to regain power. He asserted that Jeevan Reddy's involvement would significantly bolster the party's position.
He launched a scathing critique of the Congress government, claiming that it has failed to govern effectively over the past two and a half years and is resorting to diversion tactics to mask its shortcomings.
KTR alleged that the government has defaulted on the Rythu Bandhu scheme three times, accumulating debts of ₹27,000 crore to farmers while misleading them regarding loan waivers, resulting in widespread farmer discontent.
KTR condemned remarks made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, labeling them as inappropriate and unbecoming of someone in such a prominent position. He accused the Chief Minister of using language that disrespects women and undermines Telangana’s cultural values.
He further criticized the government for failing to fulfill its promise of providing two lakh jobs for the youth, leading to growing frustration among the unemployed.
KTR pointed out that none of the six guarantees promised by the Congress party have been fully realized, accusing the leadership of misleading the public while being fully aware of the state’s financial situation prior to elections.
Dissatisfaction appears to be growing within the Congress party itself, with even party members expressing a desire for BRS to regain power. KTR accused Congress leadership of disrespecting its senior leaders, compromising their dignity.
Jeevan Reddy expressed his appreciation to KTR for visiting and extending an invitation to join BRS on KCR’s behalf. He stated that his resignation from the Congress was an emotional choice but expressed contentment at the prospect of joining BRS.
Reflecting on the past 20 months, Jeevan Reddy mentioned experiencing humiliation but maintained patience. He conveyed that, having observed various governments, he believes the current administration is heading in a regressive direction. His decision was influenced by public sentiment, and he expressed eagerness to work under KCR’s guidance.
