Bhopal, Oct 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has directed officials to actively promote natural and organic farming among local farmers, ensuring they receive comprehensive support.

The CM highlighted that the economy of Madhya Pradesh is predominantly agricultural, and advancing natural and organic farming is a fundamental objective of the government. He emphasized the need to expand the cultivation of horticultural crops over traditional farming methods.

Yadav urged that rural youth should evolve into agricultural entrepreneurs, and achieving this goal requires collective efforts. He acknowledged that transitioning towards organic practices poses significant challenges, which must be addressed.

He also reiterated the importance of promoting Shree Anna (millets) and enhancing their production through actionable strategies. Farmers should be motivated to transition from conventional farming to lucrative activities like horticulture, dairy, and fisheries.

“Madhya Pradesh already excels in producing bananas, oranges, tomatoes, and other horticultural crops, which should be processed locally and marketed effectively. Collectors are tasked with encouraging a minimum of 100 farmers to adopt natural farming, keeping records, and studying the resulting benefits,” he articulated during a conference with district Collectors, Commissioners, and Superintendents of Police in Bhopal.

Yadav mandated that the use of fertilizers be controlled scientifically and reduced where necessary. He directed Collectors to ensure that local markets promote the sale of produce cultivated through natural and organic methods.

During the conference, Collectors from five districts showcased outstanding agricultural and horticultural initiatives, including Guna’s rose cluster development and Harda’s promotion of organic farming. Other highlights included Shajapur’s token system for fertilizer distribution, Sheopur’s effective crop residue management, and Khandwa’s successful cow shelter operations (Gaushalas).

The Chief Minister commended the progressive initiative of rose cultivation in Guna district and suggested expanding rose farming in all religious towns to cater to local demand.

He also called for vigilant monitoring of soybean auction prices in agricultural markets.
