Mumbai, Sep 5 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande expressed her support for the newly introduced GST 2.0 reforms by the Centre, emphasizing that this initiative will offer considerable relief to the general populace, particularly those belonging to the lower and middle-income brackets.

In her conversation with IANS, Kayande remarked: “Prime Minister Modi's announcements are often surprising, and this GST reform is no exception. We welcome this initiative, with Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also voicing his support. The reforms aim to lower the prices of essential goods, including medications and everyday items, which will directly aid the lower and middle classes.”

Addressing the Opposition's critiques of PM Modi amid the ongoing Bihar elections, she noted that personal attacks are not a new phenomenon.

“Recall the Gujarat elections in 2017 when Rahul Gandhi employed similar tactics. When the Opposition lacks substantial arguments, they resort to personal assaults—questioning character or disparaging family members. This pattern is not novel. They consistently target ‘Hindutva’ and ‘Sanatan Dharma.’ Nevertheless, PM Modi has maintained power for over 11 years due to the continued support from the people,” she added.

Kayande also weighed in on the recent uproar involving Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who was seen in a viral video allegedly pressuring a female IPS officer to cease action against illegal soil excavation in Solapur. In the footage, Pawar is heard asserting, “I will take action against you… If you wish to meet me, take my number and make a WhatsApp call. How dare you?”

“The officer is new to her position, but what transpired is quite regrettable,” she commented.

Additionally, she responded to Congress leader Pawan Khera's controversial statement from Thursday, where he remarked, “Vote chori is just the beginning; now it’s time for note chori.”

Kayande sharply criticized this statement, stating, “In the mind of a thief, only theft-related thoughts exist. That's all I can say. They always presume some form of robbery is occurring—because that’s how they think.”

Point of View

Kayande's support for GST 2.0 reforms reflects a broader trend in political discourse where leaders align with initiatives perceived to benefit the populace. While political tensions are palpable, the focus should remain on the impact of such reforms on everyday citizens, ensuring that political strategies align with national interests.
