Shillong, Jan 19 (NationPress) Meghalaya has been honored with three distinguished awards during the 6th Digital Transformation Summit and Awards, which took place in the capital city, acknowledging the state’s excellence in geospatial technologies, public service delivery, and digital health services, as reported by officials on Monday.

A senior official emphasized that these accolades underscore Meghalaya’s rising stature as a leader in technology-driven governance, propelled by the vision of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. This recognition reaffirms the state’s dedication to an inclusive, data-driven, and citizen-focused administration.

According to officials, the awards encompass vital sectors such as urban development, infrastructure planning, public service delivery, and healthcare, demonstrating how digital innovation is being utilized to enhance governance outcomes and uplift the quality of life for its citizens.

Under the Planning, Investment Promotion, and Sustainable Development Department, the flagship initiative Meghalaya ONE was acknowledged in the category of “Innovative Use of Digital Technology in Enhancing Public Service Delivery.”

Meghalaya ONE serves as a consolidated digital platform that enables citizens to access government schemes, services, and complaint resolution through a unified interface.

The platform is available via web portals, physical service centers, and a network of village data volunteers, ensuring last-mile connectivity, even in remote locations.

In the geospatial category, the Meghalaya State GIS and UAV Centre, operating under the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) and the Planning, Investment Promotion, and Sustainable Development Department, was honored for “Excellence in Use of Geospatial Technologies for Transportation, Urban Development, and Other Projects.”

This award was in recognition of its flagship Meghalaya State Geo Portal, also referred to as the Meghalaya State GeoHub.

Powered by AI-driven analytics, the platform offers real-time and historical data to facilitate evidence-based decision-making in areas such as deforestation monitoring, weather forecasting, water budgeting, and infrastructure planning.

Meanwhile, the Health Department’s National Health Mission, Government of Meghalaya, received the Award of Excellence in the category of “Innovative Digital Health Services and Public Health Data Analytics.”

This recognition was awarded for its pioneering MOTHER app, which employs real-time data to monitor maternal and child health indicators.

Officials highlighted that between 2020 and 2025, Meghalaya saw nearly a 60% reduction in maternal deaths and a 34% decrease in the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), highlighting the effectiveness of data-driven interventions.

The award ceremony was organized by Governance Now, a prominent publication focused on public policy, governance, and administrative reforms. Officials stated that this recognition further inspires the state to deepen digital reforms and bolster transparent, accountable governance systems.
