New Delhi, July 29 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while speaking in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, delivered a fierce critique of the Congress party, charging it with the intentional dismantling of India’s homegrown defence manufacturing sector following Independence.

Reflecting on India's historical excellence in weapon production, PM Modi stated, “There was a time when Bharat excelled in defence manufacturing. We crafted the finest swords and military equipment globally. However, after Independence, Congress purposefully dismantled this capability.”

He juxtaposed this legacy with the present-day self-reliant India, asserting that the nation is progressively reclaiming its position as a defence stronghold. “On one hand, India is advancing towards Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance), while on the other, Congress continues to lean on Pakistan for its political narratives,” remarked the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister lauded the Indian Armed Forces and attributed the success of Operation Sindoor to the nation's long-term investments in domestic defence capabilities.

“Had we not devoted the past decade to establishing a self-reliant defence framework, the repercussions during Operation Sindoor could have been catastrophic,” the PM stated.

He underscored the deployment of Made-in-India drones, missiles, and strategic systems during the operation, spotlighting how Indian forces dealt a significant blow to terror networks entrenched deep within Pakistan.

Emphasizing the operation's achievements, PM Modi affirmed, “From Sindoor to Sindhu, the world witnessed the magnitude of our response. Our adversaries now understand — India will retaliate on its own terms, at its own timing.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted the global acknowledgment of India’s determination. “During Operation Sindoor, 193 nations in the United Nations backed India, while only three sided with Pakistan,” he pointed out. Nevertheless, he expressed disappointment regarding the opposition’s attitude: “The world rallied behind India, yet, regrettably, our soldiers’ valor lacked Congress's endorsement.”

He further criticized Congress for demoralizing the armed forces and undermining India’s defence narrative.

“Previously, they demanded proof following surgical strikes; now they question the rationale behind halting the strike. Their pattern is evident — they solely seek to oppose,” he concluded, adding that “Congress’s trust appears to be controlled from Pakistan.”

Point of View

It is imperative to acknowledge both the historical context and the current governmental efforts in bolstering India's defence capabilities. The debate surrounding defence manufacturing is crucial for national security, and it's essential to evaluate these claims with a focus on the larger picture of India's sovereignty and self-reliance.
