Haveri (Karnataka), Nov 14 (NationPress) The former Chief Minister of Karnataka and current MP, Basavaraj Bommai, stated on Friday that the recent Bihar Assembly results have further confirmed the enduring popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi post-Lok Sabha elections, remarking that Congress leaders were mistaken in their belief that voters would favor them.
"In states like Maharashtra, Haryana, and Bihar, the popularity of Prime Minister Modi has been evidently reinforced. Congress leaders assumed widespread support, but this has proven to be untrue," remarked Bommai.
While addressing the media, he noted, "There was considerable debate regarding caste dynamics in Bihar. Congress leaders were confident that they had the backing of all communities; however, this has been disproven. Approximately 80 percent of the SC-ST communities cast their votes for the BJP. The backward classes alongside the SC-ST communities rallied behind the BJP. Due to Congress' extensive focus on appeasement politics, the minority votes consolidated against them. This situation is a significant advantage for Modi as he prepares to make pivotal decisions for the nation's progress in the near future.
Bommai responded to inquiries regarding accusations from the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, about alleged vote theft, stating: "Who is responsible for this supposed vote theft? Where's the proof? Even those who lost have not made such claims. Rahul Gandhi has himself requested the purification of electoral rolls in every state. If a formal complaint is lodged, the purification will occur. Congress attempted to transform a falsehood into a truth through repetition. The public understands their chaos; they are more perceptive than the leaders—this has been demonstrated by the voters in Bihar.
When asked what lessons the Bihar election results hold for the Karnataka BJP, he said: "If everyone unites to combat the corrupt and ineffective Congress government in the state through pro-people initiatives, the BJP will assuredly secure a majority in the forthcoming state Assembly elections.
Bommai also addressed Congress leaders' claims linking the election to a bomb blast during the polling period, asserting: "The explosion was unrelated to the election. Congress politicizes every issue. The public is astute.
On the clashes in Mudhol regarding sugarcane pricing, he remarked: "The Congress-led state government did not show the same level of concern in Mudhol as it did in Belagavi. The state government bears direct responsibility for this. If they had addressed the situation promptly, this incident could have been averted. An inquiry should be conducted, and the state government must compensate the innocent farmers for their sugarcane losses. This government is demonstrating irresponsibility."
In response to allegations from Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, who blamed the BJP for the Mudhol incident, Bommai stated, "What does Khandre know? How is the BJP to blame? Farmers protesting across districts have turned against the Congress-led state government. It is unfortunate if he cannot recognize this."
