Kolkata, April 2 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi actively campaigned on Thursday in Rampurhat, located in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, endorsing BJP candidates while advocating for a much-needed “change” in the state.

He asserted, “Anga has evolved, Kalinga has transformed, and now it’s time for Bengal to change as well.”

During the event, four candidates from the BJP submitted their nominations at the office of the Rampurhat Sub-Divisional Magistrate: Dhruba Saha (Rampurhat), Anil Singh (Nalhati), Nikhil Banerjee (Hansan), and Rinki Ghosh (Murarai).

The Chief Minister’s convoy arrived in Rampurhat to show support for the candidates, where he spent approximately 40 minutes with them at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office.

After exiting the office, Majhi addressed the media, stating, “The public is standing up against corruption. Just as development is progressing nationwide under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, a corruption-free government will emerge in Bengal. This time, a double-engine government is the way forward for Bengal.”

He continued, “I campaigned in Midnapore previously, and now I’m here in Birbhum. Judging by the public's enthusiasm, it appears that the lotus will bloom in Bengal this time.”

Majhi also accused the ruling party in West Bengal of corruption, suggesting that the populace is ready to vote for transformation.

“Progress has stagnated in Bengal. The people desire development and transparent governance. Support for the BJP is growing due to these expectations,” he stated.

The Odisha Chief Minister further discussed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal.

“The voter list is being prepared in accordance with the Constitution. This process is also being carried out in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha,” he explained.

He concluded, “The names of citizens should be included in the voter list. Why should the names of infiltrators appear? Those who are infiltrators will not be included in the voter list, nor will they belong in the country.”
