Sambhal, March 12 (NationPress) In an important action, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) administration has opted to cover ten mosques in Sambhal during the Holi festivities this Friday. March 14 is notable as it marks a rare sixty-year alignment of the festival of colors with a Ramazan 'Jumma' occurring on the same day.

During a media briefing regarding the UP administration's readiness, Sambhal SP, Shrish Chandra, stated that this measure aims to preserve communal harmony and assist both communities in celebrating their respective festivals joyfully.

“A total of ten mosques have been pinpointed along the intended route of the 'Chaupai' procession. All these will be covered to avert any disruption or tension between the communities,” he added.

He further explained that the decision to cover these mosques pertains to those along the route where the 'Chaupai' processions (a traditional practice during Holi) will pass, reiterating that this has been a long-standing practice.

“The traditional route for the 'Chaupai' procession during Holi has been established, and ten mosques along this path will be covered,” he mentioned.

Reports indicate an agreement has been made to adjust the timings of the Friday prayers and 'Chaupai' processions, ensuring they do not coincide.

The Friday 'namaaz' (prayers) will occur either before or after the Holi procession, and no outsiders will be allowed access to the mosque premises.

Local authorities and UP Police officials have been directed to maintain close surveillance and prevent any unforeseen incidents during the festival.

The ten mosques set to be covered with tarpaulin in Sambhal for the Holi celebrations include the Shahi Jama Masjid, Ladania wali masjid, Thaane wali masjid, Ek raat masjid, Gurdwara road masjid, Gol masjid, Khajoor wali masjid, Anaar wali masjid, and Gol dukaan wali masjid.

A peace meeting was also held at the Sambhal police station, where leaders from both communities conferred on strategies to avert any instances of communal discord during the Holi celebrations and the Friday 'namaaz'.
