Visakhapatnam, Aug 30 (NationPress) - The head coach of the Indian women's cricket team, Amol Muzumdar, emphasized on Saturday that enhancing players' batting time during the ongoing Women’s ODI World Cup preparatory camp at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium is a prime objective.

“Our goal is to maximize quality batting time in the middle. While discussing bowlers, it's important to note that field settings play a pivotal role. We will focus on that in our upcoming matches,” stated Muzumdar in a video shared by the BCCI on their social media platforms.

The World Cup team, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, has been training in Visakhapatnam since August 25 in preparation for a three-match ODI series against Australia next month, leading up to the World Cup.

“Each of us has our own method to get into the flow of the game. Picture yourself finding that rhythm,” remarked Muzumdar, as players including vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol participated in match simulations.

The camp also includes several members from the India ‘A’ team, who joined straight from their multi-format tour of Australia. “Discussions here are all about progress and how we can elevate this team,” Muzumdar added.

The ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam is set to host India’s World Cup matches against South Africa on October 9 and the defending champions, Australia, on October 12. India has yet to clinch the Women’s ODI World Cup title, with their best finishes being runners-up in 2005 and 2017.

Additionally, the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, and DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will also serve as venues in the eight-team tournament scheduled from September 30 to November 2.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Saturday the launch of a portal for fans to express interest in purchasing tickets for the Women’s ODI World Cup matches across all five venues. Fans are encouraged to submit their basic information, along with their preferred venues and teams they wish to watch.
