Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh), March 6 (NationPress) - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president and Union Minister J.P. Nadda criticized the Congress on Thursday, stating it is "going through mental bankruptcy."
He remarked, "The Congress has transformed into a party of kinship, focusing on brothers, sisters, and mothers, rather than its workers. The Congress lacks any foundational principles."
Speaking at a public meeting in his hometown of Bilaspur, J.P. Nadda posed a question to Congress: could it uphold the values of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, and Subhas Chandra Bose? The audience replied, "No."
The BJP leader accused the Congress of misusing funds sent from the Centre for infrastructure, stating that they were diverted for salaries and pensions instead of building homes and roads. He emphasized, "This is what occurs when power is mismanaged."
J.P. Nadda further questioned whether any significant Congress leaders visited Himachal Pradesh during recent natural disasters, noting that senior Congress figures consistently avoid the region in times of crisis. He highlighted that he, along with Anurag Thakur and Jai Ram Thakur, made three visits and secured disaster relief funds from the Centre.
Highlighting the achievements of the Central government, the Union Health Minister mentioned that Himachal Pradesh has received AIIMS, a PGI Satellite Centre, four medical colleges, a Mother and Child Hospital, a cancer centre, and a super-specialty medical block.
J.P. Nadda asserted that whenever the BJP governs, there is a noticeable enhancement in the quality of life. He reminisced, "During my tenure as an MLA, 95% of villages benefited from paved roads via the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Previously, an MLA was allocated only Rs 40 lakh for 50 roads."
He criticized the Congress government in the state, claiming it operates on divine mercy, stating, "Himachal has reached a point where investigations are conducted over chicken and samosas."
He highlighted that Himachal Pradesh still bears a debt liability of Rs 355 crore under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, and the government struggles to implement effective initiatives like Himcare. He mentioned that a sum of Rs 14.5 crore owed from Himcare to PGI remains outstanding, urging the department not to halt the scheme.
Under the Mukhya Mantri Himachal Health Care Scheme (Himcare), eligible families are entitled to cashless treatment coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh annually in approved hospitals.
