Mumbai, June 17 (NationPress) Did you know that the teaser for Sekhar Kammula's Kuberaa was crafted by Sushruth Chilakapati, a talented young graduate from Nagarjuna's alma mater - The Akkineni Family’s Annapurna College of Film and Media?

Surprisingly, Nagarjuna had no idea and openly questioned, “Who edited this?”

He reminisced, “Upon viewing the teaser for the first time, I was utterly captivated. I distinctly remember saying, ‘Who cut this? What an incredible edit!’ The finesse and storytelling rhythm were extraordinary - achieving this in a teaser that entirely revolves around a song while still narrating a complete story is no easy feat. Later, I discovered that the mastermind behind it was a young man named Sushruth, an alumnus of Annapurna College of Film & Media. I was genuinely excited!”

After realizing the editor’s connection to his college, Nagarjuna discussed Sushruth with his wife, Amala Akkineni.

“I felt immense pride. We had met previously, but I hadn't realized he would accomplish something so significant. For Sekhar to envision a teaser like this... and for someone from our college to bring it to fruition - this embodies what our ecosystem represents. It was a complete circle moment for me as both an actor and the founder of the college,” Nagarjuna expressed.

Commending Sushruth's focus and passion, Amala noted that his teachers recognized him as a gifted student with a “natural sense of rhythm.”

“He possesses an innate talent for storytelling along with an intuitive grasp of character development. This was evident in his edits, particularly in his graduation film ‘Que Sera Sera’ — a beautifully crafted and directed black-and-white short film that continues to impress. Observing his growth under Sekhar Kammula’s mentorship and witnessing his impact in the industry has been a joy. We take pride in his journey and are delighted that his work is receiving the recognition it merits,” Amala reminisced.

Featuring Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, Kuberaa is set for a theatrical release on June 20.
