Nagpur, March 19 (NationPress) A disturbing episode has surfaced amidst the turmoil that engulfed the city on Monday night. As law enforcement attempted to manage the chaos arising from arson and vandalism, an unruly group in the Bhaldarpura region attempted to tear the uniform of a female police officer and molest her.
The Ganeshpeth police have lodged a case against the mob. This unacceptable behavior directed towards the female officer has drawn widespread condemnation. Police sources indicate that stringent measures are being taken against the individuals involved in this incident.
The violent crowd was setting vehicles ablaze and damaging public property. When confronted by police, they retaliated by attacking officers and throwing stones.
Sources reported that a female officer was cornered and molested by the unruly crowd. Fortunately, fellow officers intervened and managed to escort her to safety.
“The violent mob assaulted several police personnel, including four deputy commissioners of police. A female officer was targeted and faced attempts to rip her clothing, but she managed to escape before sustaining further harm,” sources revealed.
This shocking incident has been incorporated into the FIR registered by the Ganeshpeth police station.
Law enforcement has initiated a manhunt to apprehend those responsible for the harassment of the female officer.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Tuesday that the violence was orchestrated, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described it as premeditated. Fadnavis noted that a significant cache of stones was discovered, alongside numerous weapons.
Meanwhile, State Home Minister Yogesh Kadam asserted on Wednesday that the government will not overlook those who assaulted police officers during the unrest.
“The morale of the police must remain intact; it is our duty to ensure that. Orders have been issued to implement strict actions against anyone who attacks the police,” he emphasized.
In response to inquiries regarding videos of the Nagpur incident circulating online, the minister remarked, “I have only one request: sharing such videos will not lead to any constructive outcomes.”
