New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) Neeraj Shekhar, the son of the late Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar, expressed his heartfelt thanks to individuals nationwide for honoring his father's memory on what would have been his 100th birthday.

While addressing the media, Neeraj stated, “Our esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hold my father in high regard. I am thankful to everyone who took a moment to remember him today. They recognize him as a genuine ‘Jan Nayak’. I encourage the youth to explore the legacy of such a leader and aspire to emulate his values.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi paid his respects to Chandra Shekhar, commemorating his 100th birth anniversary, and highlighted him as a popular leader celebrated for his bravery, integrity, and steadfast dedication to democratic principles.

On the social media platform X, the Prime Minister shared, "Honoring former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar Ji on his birth anniversary. This year marks the beginning of his centennial celebration, serving as a reminder to reaffirm our dedication to realizing his vision for a thriving and equitable India."

Neeraj Shekhar also weighed in on the Women’s Reservation Bill, emphasizing the government's commitment to enhancing women's representation.

“Our Prime Minister and Home Minister have explicitly stated our aim for 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies. This is their rightful claim, and we support it wholeheartedly—our Nari Shakti deserves this representation,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, voting in the Lok Sabha regarding three pivotal bills aimed at modifying the women’s reservation law and forming a delimitation commission is set for today.

The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to implement women’s reservation and support delimitation, received approval in the Lok Sabha on Thursday after a vote.

Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal announced that Lok Sabha seats across all states would see a 50 percent increase as part of implementing the women’s quota alongside the delimitation process.

If the Bill is passed, numerous states will experience a significant increase in seats, including Uttar Pradesh with 120 seats, Tamil Nadu with 59, West Bengal with 63, Kerala with 30, and Gujarat with 39.
