Netanyahu Issues Strong Warning to Yemen's Houthis Over Israel Attacks

Jerusalem, Jan 11 (NationPress) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cautioned that Yemen's Houthis are incurring and will keep incurring a significant cost for their hostility towards Israel, labeling them a proxy of Iran and a threat to Israel and the entire region.
Netanyahu's statements followed an announcement from Israel's military that their warplanes had struck the Hezyaz power facility in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, along with the Yemeni ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa. The military asserted that the strikes were aimed at infrastructure utilized by Houthi forces for military activities.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who monitored the airstrikes from the Air Force command center in Tel Aviv, remarked, "The port of Hodeidah is incapacitated, and the Ras Issa port is on fire," emphasizing that the airstrikes conveyed a message to the Houthi group that "no one will be safe."
Katz promised to "pursue" Houthi leadership, stating, "Israel's long reach extends and will persist in reaching any threat against us -- even in Yemen."
This incident represents the fifth significant assault on Yemen by Israeli forces, as reported by Israel's Army Radio.
Recent figures published by the military on Thursday revealed that Houthi forces have fired approximately 40 surface-to-surface missiles and 320 drones towards Israel since October 2023. The majority of these attacks were intercepted, according to the data.
The Houthis initiated irregular strikes against Israel following the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, citing solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, as noted by Xinhua news agency.
In retaliation, Israel has carried out multiple airstrikes on Houthi positions. Furthermore, the US-led naval coalition present in the region has been executing regular aerial assaults and strikes on Houthi locations since January 2024 in a collaborative effort to deter the militant group, which has led the Houthis to broaden their attacks to include US naval vessels.
