Jerusalem, April 22 (NationPress) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel would enact a strong retaliation to the ongoing assaults by Yemen's Houthi forces.

During a public address in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu issued this warning while addressing both the Houthis and all entities wishing harm upon Israel, asserting that any attack on Israel will provoke a response. He emphasized, “There will be a strong retaliation.”

Although the prime minister did not detail the nature of the impending response, he affirmed that Israel would not accept further assaults on its land, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.

He remarked that the Houthis in Yemen, “who continue to target Israel,” have already endured significant consequences from Israel and its American allies.

Since the onset of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, the Yemen-based Houthi forces have launched numerous long-range missiles and drones towards Israel, in addition to targeting Israeli-associated shipping in the Red Sea, in a show of solidarity with Palestinians facing Israeli attacks.

In response, both the Israeli military and a US-led naval coalition stationed in the Red Sea have conducted several lethal airstrikes in Yemen, targeting Houthi-controlled regions and infrastructure to deter their actions.

Earlier on Thursday, Houthi leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi claimed that his group had executed 26 attacks against Israel and 33 strikes on the US aircraft carrier and warships in the Red Sea since March 15.

In a televised address broadcasted by the group’s al-Masirah TV, the Houthi leader reported that the assaults on Israel utilized “30 ballistic missiles and drones,” while those aimed at the USS Harry S. Truman and its escorts involved “122 ballistic and cruise missiles, along with drones.”

Nevertheless, the Israeli military has reportedly intercepted many of the Houthi projectiles before they could reach their intended targets.
