Amaravati, Jan 7 (NationPress) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has accomplished an impressive feat by setting two Guinness World Records in Andhra Pradesh during the development of the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Expressway.
This significant news was announced by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, who described it as a moment of pride for both India and Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister Naidu noted, "Today, NHAI, through M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd., achieved two Guinness World Records in Andhra Pradesh on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G) by laying 28.95 lane-kilometres and 10,675 MT of Bituminous Concrete continuously within 24 hours," as he shared on 'X'.
"This remarkable success demonstrates the vision of the Government of India, the ongoing commitment to world-class highway infrastructure led by Nitin Gadkari Ji, and the outstanding dedication of engineers, workers, and field teams, all accomplished while adhering to strict NHAI quality standards," he added.
Best wishes were extended to the team as they prepare to pursue two more Guinness World Records by January 11, 2026, concerning Packages 2 & 3 of this landmark corridor in Andhra Pradesh. India builds. Andhra Pradesh delivers," he remarked.
The construction of the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada greenfield national highway has recently gained significant momentum. The project aims to greatly enhance Andhra Pradesh's connectivity with Bengaluru.
This six-lane, access-controlled expressway is designed to cut the travel time between Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru from the current 11-12 hours down to approximately six hours.
The expressway runs through the districts of Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool, and Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh before reaching Karnataka.
Initiated under Bharatmala phase-II, the expressway incorporates both greenfield and brownfield sections. It will bypass congested towns and existing highways to facilitate quicker and uninterrupted movement of passengers and cargo.
The total length of the expressway is projected to be between 518-624 km, combining both greenfield and brownfield sections, with an estimated construction cost of around Rs 19,200-Rs 19,320 crore.
The greenfield section extends approximately 342 km from Kodikonda to Addanki/Muppavaram, while the brownfield upgrades include Bengaluru-Kodikonda (73 km on NH-44) and Addanki-Vijayawada (113 km on NH-16).
