Gurugram, March 17 (NationPress) The second competition of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) NEXGEN season is the PGTI NexGen Kapurthala, scheduled to take place from March 18 – 20 at the RCF Golf Club in Kapurthala.

This tournament boasts a prize fund of INR 20 lakh and signifies PGTI's inaugural event in Kapurthala. The competition will consist of three rounds (54 holes), with the cut occurring after the first two rounds (36 holes). The top 36 players, along with ties, will advance to the final round.

Featuring a total of 90 participants, the field includes 87 professionals and 3 amateurs. Among the local talents are Kapurthala's own professional Ashbeer Saini and amateurs Avneet Singh and Sagar Uppal.

The opening event of the PGTI NexGen season, which took place in Gurugram last week, was clinched by Rajesh Kumar Gautam from Lucknow, currently leading the Order of Merit.

The victor of this year’s NexGen Order of Merit will be granted an exemption for the main tour (PGTI) for the 2026 season.

The third event of the season, the Phillaur Open, is set to occur from March 25 to 27 at the Ranjitgarh Golf Club in Phillaur.

Notably, the top 60 players from the 2024 PGTI Order of Merit will be ineligible to participate in the NexGen Tour in 2025. The winner of this year’s NexGen Order of Merit will secure an exemption for the main tour (PGTI) for the 2026 season.
