The film has sparked immense interest among audiences and film enthusiasts, with excitement reaching new heights following the title announcement event of 'Varanasi'.
Previously known as 'GlobeTrotter', the film's title was unveiled at a spectacular event held at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, which attracted thousands of enthusiastic fans in November.
This event has been described as a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle, witnessing one of the largest gatherings of fans in the Indian entertainment industry.
The occasion featured an impressive stage, boasting a height of 100 feet and a width of 130 feet, enhancing the visual experience.
During the event, Rajamouli revealed details about a sequence filmed for the movie, declaring it would be one of the most unforgettable moments in his cinematic career.
"Since my childhood, I have often expressed my admiration for the Ramayana and Mahabharatha. Creating the Mahabharatha has always been my dream project. When I began this film, I never expected to shoot a crucial scene from the Ramayana. However, as I wrote each scene, it felt surreal. The first day I saw Mahesh dressed as Rama during a photoshoot gave me goosebumps," Rajamouli shared.
"We had a fantastic time filming this episode. We dedicated 60 days to it, and it was completed recently. Each day presented challenges, as every sub-episode within this vast segment felt like its own film, requiring detailed planning. We managed to overcome these hurdles and finish the sequence, which will surely be one of my most memorable moments," the director noted.
The production team has already unveiled the character designs of actors Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj, and Priyanka Chopra in the film. Mahesh Babu portrays Rudhra, Prithviraj takes on the role of the antagonist Kumbha, and Priyanka Chopra plays Mandakini.
An intriguing detail about the film is that 95% of its African scenes have been filmed in Kenya, as revealed by Musalia W Mudavadi, Kenya's Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign & Diaspora Affairs.
