Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Jan 9 (NationPress) A representative from the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate announced on Friday that an FIR has been lodged following a complaint from Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh concerning the upload and dissemination of an altered video featuring former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi.
Numerous social media posts have surfaced showcasing a brief video clip that purportedly depicts Atishi, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly, making offensive and blasphemous statements about Sikh gurus, accompanied by highly inflammatory captions.
The spokesperson from the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate further stated that a scientific investigation was conducted, revealing that the audio clip attributed to Atishi was initially retrieved from the social media account of Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra. This clip has since been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory Director in Mohali for examination.
According to the forensic report dated January 9, it has been confirmed that Atishi did not use the word 'Guru' in the audio as claimed in the circulated video clips.
Moreover, the video has been deliberately manipulated to misrepresent the words in the captions that were never articulated by the Delhi LoP.
On Wednesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs protested in the Delhi Assembly, chanting slogans against Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi, alleging she used 'insensitive words' regarding a Sikh Guru during a recent Assembly session.
In a statement to reporters, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma remarked that during the Assembly session held on Tuesday, members were honoring the Sikh Gurus.
He noted that a special discussion was organized to commemorate the 354th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, which is observed nationwide.
"While we were paying our respects, Atishi did not engage meaningfully and made comments that offended our sentiments. We are profoundly saddened that a leader from AAP and a former Delhi Chief Minister has disrespected a Sikh Guru. Today, she has neither apologized nor attended the session," Verma stated.
Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra also condemned Atishi's behavior, labeling it as 'extremely shameful'.
