BRS and BJP Challenge Rahul Gandhi During Telangana Visit, Labeling it as 'Pocket Money Collection'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 2 (NationPress) As senior Congress figure and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, visits Telangana, leaders from the opposing BRS and BJP questioned his motives, insinuating he might be there to collect the promised Rs 1,000 crore from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
K. T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), welcomed Rahul Gandhi on 'X', humorously dubbing Telangana as the 'AICC’s ATM'.
“Are you here just to retrieve ₹1,000 Cr promised by your CM?” asked the former minister. “Do you care to evaluate the advancements on the 6 Guarantees that were to be fulfilled within 100 days along with the 420 other commitments made to the populace?” he questioned further.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, echoed similar sentiments, suggesting Rahul's visit was merely for “pocket money” collection.
“He is here to conclude the Congress's acting course,” he posted on 'X', referring to the same platform where CM Revanth Reddy claimed the Congress could provide ₹10,000 crore to the Gandhi family, with ₹1,000 crore sourced from Telangana alone. Is this a political visit or just a collection session? Telangana is watching,” added the BJP leader.
Rahul Gandhi arrived in Hyderabad on Monday morning and then proceeded to Vikarabad, where he led a joint session of the Political Affairs Committees (PACs) from both the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).
Later, he headed to Haritha resort at Anantagiri Hills to participate in a training camp for newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, during a press conference in Kamareddy, Bandi Sanjay challenged Rahul Gandhi to step outside the resort for a “reality check on the failed governance of the Congress administration under A. Revanth Reddy.”
He urged him to engage with the impoverished whose homes were demolished by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).
Sanjay also suggested Rahul visit the Musi belt, where families are witnessing their homes crumble.
The Minister of State insisted that Rahul Gandhi check the temples in Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, and the Old City, where reported attacks occurred, and meet with families in Banswada whose relatives were imprisoned without just cause.
Previously, the BJP leader visited victims of recent communal strife in Banswada town.
