Bhopal/Indore, Feb 19 (NationPress) In an unprecedented operation by any agency in Madhya Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) has effectively dismantled an intricate illegal laboratory responsible for producing high-purity MD/Methamphetamine (commonly known as crystal meth or a precursor for MDMA).

Throughout this operation, authorities managed to confiscate nearly 52 kg of the synthetic drug, alongside more than 260 kg of precursor chemicals and advanced equipment from two individuals.

The multi-day raid, which took place from February 13 to 15, commenced with actionable intelligence received by the CBN's Neemuch division on the night of February 13. Officers intercepted a private bus in Mandsaur, seizing 8.172 kg of premium crystal methamphetamine from two passengers.

The contraband was cleverly hidden in suspicious boxes beneath the seats, packed in polythene bags. Both suspects admitted during questioning and disclosed that the drugs came from a concealed manufacturing facility.

Following a tip-off, the CBN assembled a coordinated special team, incorporating officers from Neemuch, Mandsaur, Jaora, and Ujjain branches. Intense probing and location details directed investigators to a site in Thavalay village, Mhow tehsil, Indore district.

Early on February 14, teams pinpointed the location -- marked by an iron gate and two palm trees -- but were initially hindered by overpowering chemical fumes and strong odors posing health risks.

A specialized unit equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was deployed from Neemuch. The lab was outfitted with modern machinery, plant installations, and sophisticated setups for large-scale production. Dismantling the facility required technical expertise, necessitating assistance from the Government Opium and Alkaloid Works (GOAW), Neemuch. A four-member team of engineers and chemists arrived by midnight on February 15, safely dismantling and seizing the equipment. The operation concluded early that morning.

The total seizure included 43.820 kg of additional high-quality MD from the lab, bringing the overall methamphetamine confiscation to 51.992 kg -- all recovered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Three individuals have been arrested: the two bus passengers and the homeowner where the lab was situated.

Further investigations aim to uncover the wider supply and distribution network.
